fashions designers at home.
beyond the culture and the history, one of the things i am most interested in seeing when i travel to cuba is the color. that well-worn, faded patina finish that can only come with years of weathering. there’s a certain vibe architecture and interiors take on when they’ve been left untouched for a long time and i find it so beautiful. parts of tulum had that, and bri’s photos of hong kong had it, too. i have this vision in my head that cuba will be filled with that special color — like this faded but bold hot pink, and i can’t wait to photograph it. these images give me that feeling and although i’m not so sure i could exist day to day in some of these spaces, i can definitely admire their unique beauty and eccentricity.

I'm a wanderer
well I know I have been missing in action for some time but I'm back. In August I traveled to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. What an experience, the shopping, the food, the beach, the people, the shopping.
Fifth Avenue in Playa is literally 50 blocks of kiosks, boutiques, high end and low end vendors shopping marts, restaurants, bars and pure fun. The Mexican folk art is to die for and sellers will bargain down to a few dollars. My biggest regret is that I didn’t buy more.
Very European in feel, Playa as the locals call it was the perfect combination of gorgeous turquoise beaches, plethora of good cuisine and access to historical must sees in Mexico like Chichen Itza and Tulum. We also did day trips to Cozumel where we snorkeled and fyi is a mecca for scuba divers from all over the world. Next time, I will also add Isla de Mujeres to my itinerary. I write this as the snap of winter is in the air here in New York. But no worries Mexico, I will be back.
